Jeff

Jeff McGahee is a military veteran, wood worker, and all-around builder extraordinaire. Jeff entered the army at 18, trained and served as a Radiology technologist for his entire military service. He was honorably discharged and has continued a 40-yr long career in Radiology. He has served in multiple leadership roles in healthcare where he excelled. Over the last half-century, medical science has dramatically improved throughout the world. Although costs have risen in all western countries as new technologies have been widely adopted, costs in the United States have risen much more than they have in any other country. Despite using fewer resources (e.g., numbers of physicians and nurses, hospital beds) than do peer countries, per-capita spending on health care in the United States is double that in similar countries. The major driving force behind this difference is that we in the United States pay much more for the same products and services. There is no evidence that this increased spending gives better outcomes. Neither the general public nor doctors are happy with our current health care system. This is one of the many reasons that Jeff decided to retire from conventional medicine and pursuit a more holistic approach to healthcare and wellness overall. Jeff was born and raised in the State of Georgia where he grew up working around his grandparents’ farm. Organic crops were the norm for that farm. Jeff’s true passions are holistic living, woodworking, his demon cat and his wife. Today, Jeff’s interest in heirloom furniture has become the major focus of his work. He has been designing and creating custom furniture for over twenty years. As Jeff’s passion for fine woodworking grew, he found a niche restoring needy antique furniture and repurposing old wood piecing into beautiful new works of art. Another ongoing influence into Jeff’s Woodworking is his wife Nikki, who is an artist, and curator of ideas. Jeff and Nikki’s faith and creativity certainly have influenced a dynamic relationship both in marriage and in their choice of creative mediums. The Texas communities they came from were quite enthusiastic about their work offers and they are excited to get up and running in upstate NY and bring their style of creativity to the Finger Lakes. Jeff has such a wealth of furniture ideas that he can’t resist reproducing these forms of furniture art. He believes the form and function of his line of furniture should be as good as what was available two hundred years ago. Not only are his designs practical but also the simple beauty of his designs fit quite nicely alongside more minimal contemporary decors too. Who doesn’t want a piece of furniture that they love and that will actually last a lifetime and can be passed down through the generations. With that said, Jeff realizes your interpretation of what is aesthetically pleasing is as unique as yourself and your own life experience. He is happy to help you create the family heirloom of your choosing. At Morelliville Farm’s Jeff’s Woodworking has a passion for detail, using the beauty of wood to create a functional showpiece for your home or business. Whether it’s a beautiful piece of heirloom furniture, turned bowls, a saloon style chicken coop, or a custom piece of furniture, Jeff can build it. He has an artist’s love for the potential of each different type of wood he uses and the ability to create each piece or project into something not only functional but stunningly beautiful. For the time being you will find Jeff up before the Roosters, and usually the sun, drinking his coffee on the porch before heading out to care for the animals. After the morning chores with the animals, Jeff’s day has just begun as he is building his woodworking shop. The one thing you can always count on with Jeff is a big smile on his face. He doesn’t mind the hard work of the farm; he just loves farm life. He loves everything from growing our own food to bailing the hay to building the pole barn. You can just see the contentment radiating from Jeff and you know that he had found his place in life. And isn’t that what life is all about? Jeff will be open for woodworking orders in Winter 2025.
