Nikki McGahee has been a nurse for 31 years. Much of that time served with the most critical of patients in the ICU and ED. She has a love and compassion for people and animals. She grew up spending time on her Aunt’s farm in Laurel, MS and has the fondest memories of walking through the pastures as a child for hours each summer. She would wake up mornings to help plant gardens, feed and care for the cows. After the work was done they would enjoy the amazing fresh food from the garden her Aunt would cook. A dream of Nikki’s has always been to have a small bit of land she could farm. She loves animals, especially cows, pigs, goats, and chickens. She and her husband Jeff bought two acres and began growing a small garden and tending a coop of 10 chickens shortly after they were married in 2020. Nikki’s fondest time of day is early mornings and late evenings sitting on the porch listening to the animals and enjoying the beautiful tapestries of colors the surrounding nature and skies afford. Her love of drawing and painting is best sparked when sitting alone at these times. Nikki and Zoe have maintained a friendship of nearly 20 years. In that time, they both talked about and dreamed of starting a homestead they could care for together. In 2024 circumstances and dreams aligned to allow the formation of Morelliville Farms. Nikki and Zoe’s medical backgrounds as nurses have allowed them to see the amazing technologies and benefits of western and medicine and have also allowed both of them to explore more holistic approaches to supplement in their own wellness journeys. Nikki has a genetic disorder known as Ehlers Danlos Syndrome hypermobility variant that impacts the muscles and collagen tissue throughout her body. This has led to multiple issues with her joints, avulsion fractures, joint subluxation, and dislocations, dysautonomia, and MAST Cell activation. A lifetime of searching and being misdiagnosed, mismanaged, dismissed by the medical community, and a desire to be the healthiest she can be led to researching more holistic avenues to aid in her wellness journey. She has discovered the benefits of acupuncture, massage, dietary modifications, various herbs, teas, and other supplements that work well to aid in keeping her in a more balanced better state of health. One of the only specialists for EDS in the Dallas area advised mushroom team that is known to help with immunity and anti-inflammatory issues in the body and protein shakes as a part of Nikki’s medical regimen along with strength exercises to keep muscles strong to aid in supporting weakened connective tissues. Out of the entire medical regimen she provided only one medicine. After years of having additional medications or another specialist added to her plate this was a welcome relief. When our dream of Morelliville Farms became a reality, our biggest desire was to grow, make, and sustain products that aid in providing our customers with the most natural options for their health, wellness, and homes. Our personal journeys and research in to how to use our knowledge in medicine, the human body, and how blending this with more natural products to allow our bodies to maintain or return to the best state of health is truly the most exciting journey.
